Observations

Love like a drag from a cigarette.*

My reluctance walked slowly, backwards out of my mouth.

Her thoughts are flower petals, bold and poignant.  However, one you try to move, manipulate those those words, petals off the stem, they brown and shrivel.

Meeting the author brought back a childhood mentality, age eight or nine.  The confidence, which was reserved and strengthened, quickly excused itself to make room for the dwelling, itching nervousness.  The aged presence sunk and weighted by a starstruck aura.  Shaking hands with a shaking hand he did.  The tongue curled, shriveled actually.  The additives to conversation were extra salted; if the words had feet, their big toes would have been stubbed after miscalculating the raised lower lip.  The presumption entered as a clown; of course, he had more fans and emails sent to him were daily if not hourly.  Yet, an explanation cleared everything up.  The light in the room, above the two, was finally clicked on.  The embarrassment that once lingered above now sprawled out upon the ground as a shadow.

The picture was simply drawn in less than two minutes.  Lines were never second guessed.  It said what was on all of our minds.

Life is a crap shoot. Sometimes you have to get sucked inside and hope the passage leads you to where you want to go.

She cackled.  If this was a witch’s laugh… it had to have been a witches laugh.  Manipulation, belligerent, reveals itself through a hyperbolic guffaw.

Breath is warm air, smoke pressed precisely and especially on panes.  Convoluted, it isn’t; it’s laid on thick at first, but the facade weakens to quickly reveal an opaqueness to it.

The Blarney Burger:  how burgers are supposed to look (wonderfully big), taste (delicious), cost (just over $6).

  1. God I want a cheeseburger and onion rings…..fries or chicken wings for that matter. I know I should’ve come away with more than that from this post, but my homesickness for stateside food is killing me these days! Hope you have a great weekend, Chris!

    1. It’s all good. The burger and fries really know how to strike a chord.

Homesickness is in fact a sickness, coming and going, and it cannot be remedied by anything and similar to the common cold. Get through this bout! You can do it

Thanks, Deanna! I hope you do as well.

  2. I hope these came from your weekend, Chris, because what a great weekend they would be, Skaneateles and the Blarney Stone. That burger could blunt the sting of Syracuse’s stinko show vs. UVa. Some. Have a great Sunday, the second half.

    1. Yes, they did! I went to see Bruce Coville in Skaneateles, and he was talking shop about creativity and writing. It was an interview setup, and Patience Brewster led the interview. Skaneatles Arts asked me to step out due to my being early (because it was cold, hmm), so I got some pictures to occupy my time.

Not much sitting down this weekend (especially after that loss). Hope your second half shines as well!
